Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Book OrdersHere are the book order sheets 2010-2011:
Why is it important for me to hand the order form in?We need the order form to establish which course each pupil attends so that we can allocate the appropriate school books. Any questions as to whether your child is English Mother Tongue or German Mother Tongue should be referred to the child’s teacher.
Why do I have to adhere to the due date? The due date is very important as some of the books need to be ordered from as far away as America and delivery time must be taken into account. We require the delivery of workbooks prior to the summer vacation in order to prepare all books in advance for the new school year. The ONLY exception to this rule is for new entrants coming from abroad.
What do I do if I am in receipt of unemployment or social benefits? You need to photocopy the first page of your Jobcenter “Bescheid” and hand it in to either the secretary’s office or directly to Michèle Holzhäuser. This will exempt you from payment for the books, although you will still have to pay for the log book and library membership. This information is treated in the strictest confidence and is required NO LATER than one month after the start of the new school year.
What do I do if I am on an extremely low income or have other difficulties in paying? You should contact the Library Resources Manger, Michèle Holzhäuser; contact details on the order form or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , to arrange a payment plan.
Can I do a partial order e.g. order the lease books via the library and purchase the workbooks privately? No, the library is offering a service to you under very favourable conditions and by ordering through the library you are helping to support it. Discounts secured on books are used to purchase readers for the lending library.
What if I decide not to order my books via the library? You are, of course, fully entitled to order your books privately but you might find you have problems later with the class set texts which you will also have to buy during the course of the year. You also need to remember that the log book and library membership still need to be paid even if you do order privately.
How do I know which books to order? On each order form it is clearly indicated which books your child needs for each subject. The lists have been prepared in accordance with the wishes of the individual departments. If you are in any doubt as to whether your child is English or German Mother Tongue, please see the class teacher.
Why do I have to buy a log book? This is a decision passed by the School Conference, the highest decision making body in the school. Any questions related to the log books should be directed to the Log Book Committee: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
Why do I have to pay the library membership fee? This is a purely administrative charge and allows us to buy most of the office materials we require for the administration of the resources centre.
When may I collect the books? In accordance with the wishes of class teachers, all students collect their books at the beginning of the new school year.
Why do some price columns contain zero prices? This indicates that your child may borrow this book from the library at no extra cost.
What do I do if my child damages or loses a school textbook? You are required under the German School Law to pay for a replacement.
